The culture of the state has strong influence of Germans, Italians and Africans, which generates various cultural events and unique festivals.
In the capital case the parade of samba schools of the State, which meets at Sambão do Povo, is known as the Sambadrome Capixaba, over fifty thousand people outside the parading, the prestige 14 schools in Grande Vitória who parade in two days of much party and animation. The parade of samba schools capixabas always happen a week before the official carnival.
The League of Samba Schools Espiritossantense (LIESES) is the organizer of the parade in partnership with the city. After two years in a single group, the shows will return in 2011, to be divided into two groups that marched in 3 days distinct.
In the city of Itapemirim happens Traditional Feast Tuna and Dorado, which is one of the major events of the fishing culture in Brazil, while the Festival Seafood Capixaba, the District of Itaipava. These festivals bring together more than 50 000 people a day and has the opportunity to try traditional dishes on the waterfront. Furthermore it is possible to attend the return of the boats, which pecorrer the island of French that is the place to prepare the fish in Roller.
There is also the traditional feast of Corpus Christi, held around the months of May and June, where the town of Castelo handmade rugs are made in a perimeter of approximately one kilometer around the city center. These mats with several paintings and drawings are brightly colored and made mostly of flowers, colored sawdust and grains.
Colatina happens in the Festa do Cafona. The event brings together people from all over Brazil, who dress in unusual ways and purposely ridiculous to not only meet, listen to music with lyrics ridiculous and provocative and to make bizarre and obscene.
In the town of Alegre, an important event happens in the national music scene, the Festival de Alegre, which comprises the largest and most popular Brazilian bands and beyond also count on foreign bands.
The largest rodeo in the state is to Ibiraçu, where a meeting of country music.
The Winter Festival and Wine Festival happening in Domingos Martins are the largest events in the mountainous region of the state.
Other important cultural events are the Festival Exhibition Hall Afonso-Claudense and Feast of Afonso-Claudense Absent and Present, which commemorates the anniversary of the municipality of Afonso Cláudio, the "Boi Pintadinho" in Muqui, the Feast of the Immigrant Santa Teresa, Feast of Corn meal in Venda Nova do Imigrante, the Feast of the Strawberry, Flower and Sommerfest in Domingos Martins, the Feast of St. Benedict in the city of Serra, and the Penha's Feast, the largest religious festival of the state and comprises about 900,000 faithful during the Passion of Christ Week, the Convento da Penha in Vila Velha. |
